Leak inspection
Pan, connectors, cooler lines and accessible transmission leak points inspected as appropriate.
Transmission fluid, filter and pan servicing for applicable Mercedes-Benz automatic and dual-clutch transmissions, with correct identification, leak checks and service-history review.
Many Mercedes-Benz automatic and dual-clutch transmissions have fluid and filtration maintenance requirements. The exact interval, fluid, filter arrangement and fill procedure depend on the transmission and vehicle. A transmission service is preventative maintenance; it is not a guaranteed repair for an existing fault, severe shudder, slipping or warning message.
Before quoting, we identify the transmission and review the service history so the correct parts and procedure can be used.
Mercedes-Benz has used several automatic and dual-clutch transmission families. Service procedures can differ in fluid type, filter design, pan arrangement, drain points, temperature requirements and level-setting method. Some applications may have additional driveline fluids that are separate from the transmission itself.
We identify the exact vehicle and transmission before the service is quoted. During the job, visible leaks and fluid condition can also provide useful information about the state of the unit. If the vehicle already has a transmission warning, delayed engagement, severe shudder, slipping or limp mode, diagnosis is more appropriate than assuming fresh fluid will repair a mechanical or electronic fault.
Transmission-specific fluid, filtration and level procedure for applicable 7-speed automatic units.

Filter arrangement confirmed because some designs integrate filtration with the pan assembly.
Existing warning lights or poor shift quality are identified before a maintenance-only service is recommended.
A vehicle with no transmission symptoms may simply be due for scheduled maintenance. A vehicle with active faults needs a different approach because servicing alone may not correct the underlying problem.
Transmission service interval due or history unknown
Vehicle recently purchased with no transmission records
Fluid leak or residue noticed around transmission
Mild shift-quality change but no warning light
Transmission warning message or limp mode
Delayed drive or reverse engagement
Severe shudder, slipping or flare
Burning smell or suspected fluid contamination
The model badge does not always tell you which transmission is fitted. Engine, drivetrain, build date and model generation can change the unit and service procedure. Registration or VIN information helps us identify the required parts and fluid before the vehicle arrives.
Automatic transmission fluid performs hydraulic, lubricating and cooling functions. Using the wrong fluid or setting the level incorrectly can affect shift quality and component life. The procedure must suit the transmission fitted to the vehicle.
Fresh fluid can be valuable preventative maintenance, but it cannot repair a failed sensor, control unit, clutch pack, mechatronic assembly or internal mechanical damage. If a transmission has an active warning or significant drivability problem, diagnostic testing should come first.
When the transmission history is unknown, we inspect the condition and discuss the appropriate maintenance path. This is especially useful after purchasing a used Mercedes-Benz where the engine service history may be documented but transmission maintenance is not.
| Symptom or concern | Possible causes | How we approach it |
|---|---|---|
| No faults; service is due | Normal scheduled maintenance requirement | Identify transmission, use correct service parts and complete the required fill/level procedure |
| Unknown history, vehicle drives normally | Maintenance may have been missed or undocumented | Inspect for leaks and condition, confirm transmission and discuss preventative service |
| Warning light or limp mode | Electronic, hydraulic, clutch, mechanical or related vehicle-system fault | Diagnose first; do not assume a fluid service will clear the fault |
| Severe slipping or shudder | Clutch wear, hydraulic control, internal damage, mount/driveline or engine-related issue | Road test and diagnose before committing to maintenance-only work |
Transmission type depends on model, engine and generation. We confirm the transmission from vehicle identification before recommending parts, fluid or service interval.
Registration or VIN is used to establish the transmission and service requirements.
We distinguish normal maintenance from a fault that requires diagnostic work.
Applicable fluid, filter/pan and level procedure are completed for the identified transmission.
Leaks, operation and any relevant service information are reviewed before the vehicle is returned.
Transmission servicing is available from our West End workshop at 1/26 Bailey Street, West End QLD 4101. When booking, provide the registration and tell us whether the vehicle has any warning messages, shudder, delayed engagement or other shift concern. That helps us distinguish maintenance from diagnosis before the day is allocated.
Clear answers before you book.
Service requirements vary by transmission and vehicle. Many units have maintenance procedures that include fluid and filtration. We identify the exact transmission rather than relying on a blanket lifetime-fluid assumption.
Sometimes maintenance condition contributes to shift quality, but harsh shifting can also be caused by adaptations, electronic faults, hydraulic problems, clutch wear or internal damage. Existing symptoms should be assessed before promising a service will fix them.
No. Fluid specifications differ. Correct transmission identification is essential before fluid is selected.
The filter arrangement varies. Some transmissions use a separate filter while others integrate the filter into the pan or use a different service design.
We can service many 7G-DCT applications subject to the exact vehicle and transmission requirements.
Book it as a diagnostic concern. The warning may indicate a fault that servicing alone cannot repair.
Provide the registration and any transmission symptoms so we can identify the unit and book the correct type of work.
